Interesting Facts About Chandrayan 2 Mission

India is going to make a big jump in space. India’s space agency ISRO is going to launch its ambitious mission, Chandrayaan-2. Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) chairman Dr K. Sivan said that India will launch its most prestigious mission Chandrayaan-2 on July 15, 2019, at 2:51 am. ISRO has completed all the preparations for launch. India’s most powerful rocket GSLV MK-3 will be used in this mission.

The most striking thing about this campaign is that the moon will descend on the southern pole of the moon. No space agency has been able to reach this part of the moon till today. After launch, it will take about 2 months to land Chandrayaan-2 on the southern pole of the Moon. If the mission is successful then Chandrayaan-2 can expect to land on the moon’s surface on September 6, 2019.

What will the Chandrayaan 2 Mission do?

  • Determination of the spread and quantity of water on the surface of the Moon’s South Pole.
  • Study of chemical elements spread over the Moon’s season, minerals and its surface.
  • Study of soil elements of the Moon’s surface.
  • Helium-3 will discover the possibility of gas which can be a big source of energy in future

India will reach the surface of the moon for the first time.

Chandrayaan-2 before this is different in many ways from mission Chandrayan Mission-1. This time the special thing is that this time the Chandrayaan 2 will land on the moon’s surface. Chandrayaan-1, launched in 2008, was definitely in the moon’s orbit but he did not land on the moon’s surface. It is installed in the orbit at the height of 100 kilometres from the surface of the moon.

How Much spend?

A total of 978 crore rupees will have been spent on the Chandrayaan-2 mission. About a decade ago, Chandrayaan-1 discovered water on the surface of the moon, which was a great achievement. That is why India prepares for another Moon mission. Chandrayaan-2 will land on the southern pole of the moon, where there is hope that water can be present in abundance.

What to do?

Under the Chandrayaan-2 mission, a rover will be lowered onto the surface of the moon, which will be equipped with state-of-the-art equipment. Rover will analyze the soil of the moon and discover the possibility of the helium-3 gas along with minerals as well, which can potentially be a source of energy in the future.

Technical Information

There are 3 parts of Chandrayaan-2 – Orbiter, Lander, and Rover. Their total weight is 3.8 tonnes. The orbiter is the part that is installed in the orbit of the planet/satellite that is orbiting it. In a space mission, landers are those parts that take the rover to the surface of the planet/satellite. Rover’s work is to study the elements on the surface.

How long will the mission be?

On July 15, 2019, after the launch, Chandrayaan is expected to land on the moon’s surface on September 6, 2019. Lander and Rover will stay active for 14 days. The orbiter will remain active for 1 year and will continue to rotate in the orbit of the moon.
